Bennett Pleased With Home FA Cup Draw

On the back of Sundays dramatic penalty shoot out victory over Northern Division One outfit, Hull City, first team manager, John Bennett declared himself pleased with todays 3rd round draw, that paired his side at home to either Brighouse Town or Wolverhampton Wanderers; however he was quick to re-iterate that his side will take their eventual opponent very seriously.

“In a one off knockout competition your first wish is a home draw, so we are pleased to have secured that. In terms of Brighouse, there is a certain irony, as we also play them in the next round of the League Cup. Along with Hull, they have been the stand out side in the league below us this season, so we know that regardless of whether we end up playing them in one or both competitions, that we will have to be at our best. Teams that sit at the top end of league tables, regardless of what league it is, are confident teams and confident teams more often than not play without fear or inhibition. We saw it with Hull and we’ll see it with Brighouse; however we’ve won our last three games and will be hoping to make that four this weekend against Bradford City.”

“In terms of Wolves they came up from the league below last season and have struggled; however they have just parted company with their manager and may well have a replacement in situ by the time they play Brighouse this weekend. In my experience a new broom is usually a dangerous broom, so it will be interesting to see what happens. Either way, our focus will be primarily on ourselves and making sure that we are prepared mentally, tactically and physically in the knowledge that a win will put us in the hand with teams from the WSL.”

The tie will take place on Sunday 7th January at the clubs Mickleover Sports home ground
