Brewster makes the step up to the Ewe Rams

Derby County Manager John Bennett has made his third signing in successive days with the capture of Jamey Brewster, a young midfield star coming out of the Derby County Regional Talent Centre (RTC) .

Brewster had been earmarked by the club in recent seasons as showing the right potential and quality that would one day see her make the step up to Derby County Ladies. Having spent 4 years at the RTC, both the club and the RTC believe the youngster is ready to join up with the senior team.

Bennett told DCLFC Media “We’ve been forging ever closer links with the Derby County RTC and Jamey was a player we identified a while back and have kept a close eye on her progress and firmly believe now is a good time for her to join us.

“She’s a talented player with a bright future and all the coaches at the RTC were always speaking highly of her and identifying that she would be a positive addition to the club. With our coaching set-up better than ever, we believe she will flourish with us and put her marker down on the team very early on.

Brewster herself believes the time is also right to join the set-up and is excited to start “It’s fantastic to get to join the club, i’m really excited to start and can’t wait until the season starts. It’s never easy to move on after 4 years but the coaches at the RTC think it’s the right time to go and I also think I can make a difference too.

“We’ve got work to do in pre-season and i’m going to get my head down and make sure I make an impact in the games and show the management why I should be in the team for that first match.

“I’m still young and have got plenty to learn but I’m really enjoying working with the manager and the coaches and the team have been great and have really allowed me to settle in.”
