Notts County Demise to Ewe Rams Advantage as Sims signs

Derby County Ladies are delighted to announce the signing of former Notts County Ladies Development youngster Amy Sims, who joins the Ewe Rams for the 2017/18 FA WPL season.

With the recent news of Notts County Ladies folding, it left a number of players, particularly from their Development Team, without a club for next season and Derby County Ladies Manager John Bennett has been quick to snap up talented central midfielder, Sims.

Bennett told DCLFC Media “Whilst its been tough for those that were at the Ladypies, we’ve managed to get a few of them in and see what talent they have and Amy is one of those that caught the eye very early on and we’ve signed her to come and make an impact straight away.

“She’s previously spent time at Derby before as a youngster and so she knows our philosophy and will fit right in with us. She’s been recognised at youth ages for England so she’s obviously a very, very good player and we can help make her better player and join us in the long-term.

The uncertainty of football at any time was seen with the demise of Notts County Ladies and Sims said it was a tough time, not knowing what was happening and where she would be playing her football.

“Its not been an easy few months and there were rumours for a while that something was going on with the ladies side at Notts County. I tried not to let it change my focus and when it finally happened it was still a shock.

“I like the style of play that Derby have put together and I think it will suit my game and i’m excited to get going with the club. The facilities are excellent, the best i’ve seen and everything is geared up to make the progress we all want.”
