Derby County Ladies Football Club

Academy Report 14/15 Sept

Derby County Ladies Academy had another sensational weekend with some outstanding team performances that Academy Director Dave Cholerton believes show the hard work going in.

The standout performance this week came from the Under 13’s who hit double figures with an 18-0 win with Charlie hitting seven goals in the game as they set down an early marker for the season.

Cholerton said “The Under 13’s result was outstanding and everything that could go right for them, went right for them. It was a complete performance and I think it showed how much the Under 13’s playing in a boys league last year helped.

“There was disappointment for the Community Team but elsewhere their were morale boosting wins for the Under 18’s team who picked up their first win and the Under 15’s who hit 13 goals.

“Our younger teams have again been a joy to watch and the level that they are playing at for such a young age and the knowledge they they are taking in from training and taking them into matches is brilliant.

“As we move into the next few weeks, it is important for all of lour teams to continue their development and take what they learn from their coaches and try and implement it as much as possible.

“We’ve developed a style that we want to keep too and our coaches are implementing that and it’s great to all have that One Club feel and all singing from the same hymn sheet.”

The Community Team went down 8-0 to Oadby & Wigston WFC and it’s been a tough start to life in the East Midlands Women’s Regional League where they will hope to get off the mark this weekend.

The Under 18’s hit a last minute winner against Coventry City Girls for a 3-2 win to get their season going, whilst the Under 16’s clinched a close one 4-3 against Solihull.

The Under 15’s were on a goal fest with a 13-2 win against Boldmere Falcons, and the Under 14’s were 3-1 winners against Warwick.

There was a week off for the Under 12’s White Sox but the Under 12’s Black Sox were 5-1 winners against Allestree Juniors.

The Under 11’s got their season off and running with a strong performance and the Under 10’s and Under 9’s continued their impressive development and some eye catching displays.
