Derby County Ladies Football Club

Academy Report with Dave Cholerton

Thankfully the weather has improved since Christmas with the rain not as prevalent, though our fingers are crossed that the barrage of cold weather due in the north, won’t make it’s way down to Derbyshire.

That has meant that more games are getting played which is a welcome change and now we can take that development at training and into our game time.

Whilst our players and coaches only have eyes on the development of our teams over the next few months, we are already looking ahead to the end of the season with both our Summer Festival and Development Days.

We have finalised dates for these and our production of leaflets for these events are ready to go to print and so these will soon be announced. These are two key events in our Academy calendar.

The Summer Festival will go into our 3rd Year and the success of this event is growing each year and we hope that will be the case again. For all of our teams, please promote this event to your opposition when playing games.

The Development Days will also come up towards the end of June and we think last year we had the right format and ensured that we got the best talent in the county.

As a club we want to strive to be the best in the county and with the growth of the women’s game, more players and better quality coaching, will be a challenge of the game so we must ensure that our own development as a club to produce our own talent to reach the 1st team is at the forefront of our minds.

We have a couple of match reports for you from last week and for all those playing over the weekend, we wish you good luck and i’m looking forward to seeing many of you in action.
