Ewe Rams Add Izzy Ford on Dual-Signed Deal with Blades

Derby County Ladies have completed the capture of Izzy Ford on a dual-signed contract with FA Women’s Championship club Sheffield United WFC.

The highly rated England Youth midfielder will go straight into the squad for the Ewe Rams game with Loughborough Foxes on Thursday night giving boss Sam Griffiths added competition in her squad. She will also be eligible to play for Sheffield United when called upon.

Griffiths said “We’re excited about bringing Izzy into the club and adding her obvious talent to the squad and give her a chance to continue her development. We’d like to thank Sheffield United WFC for allowing us to add her on a dual-signed contract.

“With any youngsters coming into the game, it is essential that they get minutes on the pitch and with Sheffield United having one of the stronger squads this season, whenever they can allow her to play for us, it serves two purposes in boosting our squad and getting her crucial minutes.

“She is very highly rated and having trained with us, you can see she has an excitement around her and i hope she will made a big impact with us and it’s going to give us that bit extra in the squad.”

The midfielder is a graduate of the Sheffield United RTC and made her senior debut last season at the age of just 16. She has represented England at Under 15, Under 16 and Under 17 level and will join up again with her former captain at the Blades in Ellie Gilliatt who moved to the Ewes this summer.

Sheffield United WFC Manager Carla Ward spoke about Izzy’s move to the Ewe Rams and said “Izzy is an exceptional young talent who we see only getting better and better.

“This move will allow her to experience a different level that poses different challenges and I think it will be a great learning experience for her, hopefully she can hit the ground running and have a good spell there.”
