Ewe Rams Launch Club Buddies Programme for Local Clubs

Derby County Ladies are today launching it’s new ‘Club Buddies’ programme aimed at encouraging local football teams to experience Senior Women’s Football in the local region and offering them a great day out at Ewe Rams games.

The initiative will see local teams have the opportunity to watch Derby County Ladies in action and as part of the initiative will receive free tickets as well as walking out the Ewe Rams onto the pitch ahead of the games.

Other features of the ‘Club Buddies’ programme will see a half-time competition, autograph and selfie session with the players post match and social media promotion for your team ahead of the match and post game.

Their is no cost for clubs becoming a part of the ‘Club Buddies programme and teams are invited to join the programme by filling in the Club Buddies Membership Form online by clicking here or heading to the About Page on our Main Menu.

The aim will be for two teams to attend for each home game starting with our Remembrance Day fixture with league leaders Blackburn Rovers LFC on the 11th November.

Chief Executive Duncan Gibb believes the launch of the ‘Club Buddies’ programme will help to increase the profile of the women’s game across the region and will be two-fold in boosting young players in the county and inspiring youngsters to strive to play at a high level as well as ensuring the  Ewe Rams are backed to success.

Gibb said “We’ve been developing the ‘Club Buddies’ programme over the last few months and we believe that encouraging teams to attend our games and getting them involved can help to inspire youngsters and getting our first-team to interact with them will be fantastic for their development.

“Any team can become a Club Buddy and we saw the amazing support that we got at Pride Park for our 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest and I know the players were inspired by the support they got and we’d like to replicate it going forward.

“As with any club, the onus is on us to promote the women’s game as much as possible and as the premier women’s club in Derbyshire, we want to connect with the local community and their is such an appetite for the game now that we need to embrace that.

“We’d encourage as many clubs as possible to sign up this season and no doubt we will adapt as we move forward with this new development but we believe this is a fantastic opportunity to continue the growth of Derby County Ladies and those clubs that sign up for the programme.”

Another unique part of the ‘Club Buddies’ Programme will also see each team that sign up linked to a Ewe Rams First Team Player who will be on hand to attend either a training session or an End of Season Awards event for your club, something that Ewe Rams Boss Sam Griffiths hopes will inspire both sets of players.

Griffiths said “I think becoming a Ewe Rams Club Buddy is an amazing opportunity for clubs to get involved with us here at Derby County Ladies and I know that when I was a youngster in the game, a programme like this would have helped sustain interest in the game for many teams.

“The players love playing in front of a big crowd and we’ve seen in recent seasons our Academy teams come down to support them and they love to interact with us and it really does give the girls a huge lift. We’ve seen videos on social media and the songs of support we can hear inspires us all.

“I will be looking forward to meet our new ‘Club Buddies’ on matchdays and hopefully we can create some real magic here at Derby County Ladies and if it can inspire youngsters to do all they can to continue to play the game and reach whatever level possible, it will be a brilliant initiative for the women’s game”
