Ewe Rams Skipper Hannah Ward wins Player of the Year Award

Derby County Ladies Club Captain Hannah Ward has walked away with the Player of the Year Award at the Derby County Awards Night at Pride Park this Evening.

The Ewe Rams skipper has been an impressive force since moving into a central defence position at the beginning of the season and has led from the front in her second season at the helm.

With two games remaining in the season, the Ewe Rams skipper has been involved in 25 games across all competitions and has picked up two Opposition Player of the Match Awards so far.

Ward said “It’s a great honour to be named Player of the Season and to be presented with it here at Pride Park in front of everyone is a fantastic achievement.

“I was a bit worried at the start of the season with a new role in the team but I settled a lot quicker than I thought and it’s been a great season and we need to finish it off now and achieve what we set out to do.”

After Hannah was named as the Derby County Ladies Player of the Year, Manager Sam Griffiths spoke to DCLFC Media and had this to say about her club captain.

“Wardy has been a rock all season both on and off the pitch. She adapted well to her new position this season and has been one of our most consistent players.

“She has worked so hard off the pitch physically too which has improved her performance on her pitch massively. A real leader who i’m proud to call captain.”
