Derby County Ladies Football Club

Game Week 10 with Academy Director Dave Cholerton

On the weekend of remembrance, our players, coaches and parents showed their respect by observing a minute silence before their game to reflect the bravery shown by the fallen heroes.

The Foundation team continued their winning run with a 2-0 victory at home to Draycott with goals from Hannah Pickering and Sophie Howe in a tough encounter.

The U16 travelled to Solihull in the hope of continuing their good form. Despite an energetic performance  from the home team, the Ewe Rams won 4-0 with goals from Jet 2, Eden and Chloe. Jet has scored 20 in 9 games.

The U14 Black Socks were away to Alvechurch and they had a great result against them earlier in the season but the physical challenge was too much for the black socks and they were beaten 4-0. Coach Freeman said ‘the team would have learnt a lot from this game’ but this is what it’s all about for our Academy players.

Our U14 White Socks, were in cup action against Hilton. Despite Hilton starting on the front foot, Derby managed to take control of the game winning 8-0 to progress to the next round and achieved their seventh clean sheet of the season. The White Socks will play fellow title challengers Sleetmoor in the next round of the cup.

The U12 Black Socks played Derwent losing 4-3 whilst the U12 White Socks were looking to build on last week’s result in their game against newly formed Wirksworth. Derby met their coach’s challenge of making a quick start as the team scored within 5 minutes of the start. Charlotte scored a hatrick and the team won 6-0.

The other U12 Black Socks, from the Derbyshire League, were in the first round of the cup against Wirksworth. This was a much improved Wirksworth team from the one that the black socks played earlier in the season and they were the better team in the opening part if the game. But Derby worked hard for their 7-0 victory with the goals coming from across the team including Abi, Courtney, Hollie, Imogen, Ellie, Viktoria and Emma.

Our non competitive teams all had games with the U11 White Socks, U10 and U9 played Eastwood, Burton and Belper respectively.
