Derby County Ladies Football Club

Game Week 15 with Academy Director Dave Cholerton

Following a well earned Christmas break, our Academy teams were back in action in the first weekend of 2019 as we enter the second-half of the season with many of our sides in a great position.

The U16’s were away to Coventry and experienced defeat for the first time this season losing 2-0. Other than the two free kicks scored by Coventry, the Ewe Rams were dominant in play but were unable to break through the stubborn Coventry defence.

Coventry’s game plan worked superbly to frustrate the away side. Despite their first defeat of the season the Derby players are already looking forward to their next fixture to try and start another unbeaten run.

The U15’s were unfortunate not to take all 3 points as Solihull equalised with the last kick of the game. The Ewe Rams created several scoring opportunities but were unable to take them which kept Solihull in the game and they managed to earn a point.

The U12 Black Socks playing in the Derbyshire league started the New Year with a 7-0 win against Outwoods and the U12 White Socks lost 5-0 to Woodlands.

The U11 White Socks, U10’s and U9’s played Sleetmoor United, Hilton Girls and Shardlow United and continue their excellent development.

On Sunday the Foundation Team had a good victory against Buxton winning 4-0 with goals from Purdy, Rowe x 2 and Howe, whilst the U12 Black Socks beat the Chellaston Spitfires 1-0.
