Derby County Ladies Football Club

Game Week 16 with Academy Director Dave Cholerton

With the weather seemingly set to turn for the worst, the next few weeks will be an excellent test of character for many teams and I am confident that we will see us come out of the cold snap with an even stronger team ethic.

The next few months will be an important juncture for many of the teams we have as we work our way to the end of the season. We are already in the process of planning for next season and we’ll be communicating to first our coaches and then parents about next year, in the coming weeks.

The U12 white socks had a set back within 20 seconds of their game as Heanor scored an excellent goal. Derby had a testing opening 15 minutes as Heanor were camped in their half but the Ewe Rams showed resilience in defence.

Derby grew into the game and equalised through Izzy’s chip over the Heanor goalkeeper. Derby took the lead for Heanor to equalise in the second half. Derby showed determination and desire, and after a third consecutive corner from Charlotte, Lola scored the winning goal.

The u12 black socks from the Derbyshire girls league played Burton and the Ewe Rams showed a different side to their game where they didn’t play their normal footballing game but they fought hard to win this game 1-0.

The u9, u10 and u11 white socks had games against Hilton, Belper and Hatton.

The u16 got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win away to Sutton Coldfield and the u14 black socks played their part in a very entertaining game, winning 7-6 versus Boldmere with goals from Amy 2, Amber 2, Steph K, Ella and Shania. The u14 white socks were away to Chellaston and achieved a narrow 2-1 victory.

On Sunday, the u12 black socks drew to Sherwin 1-1 and the Foundation team won at Castle Donnington 12-0.
