Derby County Ladies Football Club

Game Week 17 with Academy Director Dave Cholerton

In our feature game this week the U14 Black Socks were at home against unbeaten local rivals Leicester City.

The Ewe Rams started the game with brightly but Leicester grew into the game and Lola was called on to make two outstanding saves.

Derby took the lead through a free kick scored by Nicola, an outstanding strike from 25 yards. Derby remained resilient in defence and creative in counter attack. The game finished 1-0, a great win for the Black Socks. The U15 also had a competitive game at home to Redditch. An entertaining game with six goals but the Ewe Rams came out on top winning 4-2.

The U16 travelled to Bromsgrove and took an early lead through Jess in a scrappy first half. A much better second half for the Ewe Rams saw them score more goals by Heidi, Jet, Chloe and a second for Jess. This was Jet’s 27th goal of the season in a game Derby won 5-0.

The U11 White Socks coach was particularly pleased with the passing and movement of her team and they scored goals by Lerayah 2, Riya, Georgina and Mimi. The U9 played Outwoods and the U10 were without a game.

The U12’s playing in the Derbyshire league, won 5-0 against Toton and the U12 White Socks lost 2-1 to Eastwood. The U14 white socks game was off due to the wintery weather in Matlock making the pitch unplayable.

The Foundation team won 2-0 against Pride Park Ladies with goals from Emily Barker and Sophie Howe.
