Derby County Ladies Football Club

Game Week 7 with Academy Director Dave Cholerton

This week has seen more great football played in the Academy and we continue to move forward with many opportunities coming up for our players and busy Christmas period is just around the corner with football continuing and festivities all being planned currently.

Our partnership with Loughborough College will hopefully see our players look to attend the leading Sports College in the UK and soon the College will visit our two oldest teams to speak to perspective students and parents about what is on offer.

Our feature team this week, the U16 are in rampant form and continued their winning start to the season with a 7-0 home win against Bromsgrove. The Ewe Rams took an early lead which set the tone for the first 30 minutes which saw Derby take a 4-0 lead.

In the second half Bromsgrove had spells of their own good play but Lucy kept her clean sheet in tact and with Derby without their captain a Abbie and Olivia reverted to 4 at the back the girls can be well pleased with their performance. Goals were scored by Jet 4, Mia, Eden and  Jess.

The U15 and U14 black socks were both at home and looking to get back to winning ways. The teams looked much more solid and they both earned their first clean sheets of the season which is no easy task in the Warwickshire leagues.

Our U15 team were 1-0 winners against Stourbridge with Lesha scoring the only goal and the U14 Black Socks beat Wyrley 2-0 with Nicole scoring both goals.

The U14 White Socks played away at a sunny Kirk Hallam against Stanton and despite being without 3 key players the Ewe Rams won 5-2 to maintain their winning start to the season.

The U12 Derbyshire League team won 5-1 against Sleetmoor United LFC with goals from Hollie and Ayla and they continue their quest in a higher league with confidence that will ensure they are well prepared for next season.

The U9 played an end to end game against Belper and there were some very good performances by both teams whilst the U10 and U11 White Socks continued their development in games against Outwoods and Stanton respectively

Coaches from the non-competitive teams are reporting that their teams are getting good quality games against strong opposition which continue to bode well for them as they move towards the winter months.
