Miracles do Happen, Jaz to go Dry for Minibus Appeal

One of Derby County’s most well know supporters, Jaz Basra will be going dry for the month of September in order to help the clubs ladies arm purchase a mini bus for travel to away games.

Jaz who is also a member of the Punjabi Rams hopes that the support of fellow Rams fans will pay dividends for the development of the clubs ladies side, who he has come to admire over the past few seasons.

“I think it’s fair to say that most Derby fans probably weren’t aware that we had a female team until about five years ago. Now they are absolutely everywhere and the vibe is always so positive, whether it be winning football, national awards, record crowds or fund raising and work in the community.

“As part of that they have really helped the Punjabi Rams in terms of raising awareness of us as an organisation and our aims and objectives, so for me this is a little something in return on behalf of us. I’m not pretending for a minute that this will be easy; however if at the end of it, Derby County Ladies have themselves a mini bus to travel to away games in, then it will have been worth it.”

According to club Chief Executive, Duncan Gibb, Jaz’s reputation within the DCFC supporter family will hopefully lead to the project being ultimately successful.

“Jaz is one of the most recognisable Rams fans out there. Always wearing a wide smile and never far from an ale! The fact that he has offered to do this for us is a mark of the man, and we are hopeful that fellow supporters will chuck a few quid in to not only support his sterling efforts, but to help us realise our ambition to have a mini bus of our own.

Jaz BasraWe’ve got the likes of Middlesbrough, Fylde and Blackburn in the Premier League and these trips can be extremely costly and quite time consuming to sort. To have our own bus would really make a difference.”
