Record Numbers Loom for Development Days

Derby County Ladies Academy will begin their annual Development Days this weekend with registration numbers on course to beat last years record 200 participants, leaving Academy Director Dave Cholerton chuffed with the turn-out.

The Development Days take place across three days starting on Saturday morning at Broomfield College where the Ewe Rams Academy will look to add to it’s record number of teams from last season for age groups from Under 9’s to Under 16’s.

Cholerton said “It’s been really pleasing to once again see the uptake in registration numbers for our Development Days and we have players coming from across the county and from beyond too. It shows that we are moving forwards still and that we want to offer football to girls in a strong environment.

“On the back of our successful Festivals we are looking forward to our Development Days and with over 150 players already registered for the days, we will endeavour to ensure that every girl is presented with the right opportunity to continue her development in the game.

“Our coaches are excited and are looking forward to welcoming players who have previously played for us and new players. Our Development Days will involve the girls playing in games and we can’t wait to see both new and former players take part and continue to ensure the Academy thrives.

“We are already planning for next season to ensure our players face opposition that will challenge them and help them develop. Player development is our core purpose and we have a very committed team of coaches to help us achieve this.”

All players are asked to register at least 15 minutes before the Development day starts and be wearing the correct footwear to play on grass, they should be wearing shin pads and have a water bottle. The Academy Director will address all players and parents before the girls play.
