Derby County Ladies Football Club

The Merlin Continue Ewe Rams Backing

Growing a thriving football club takes time and help across a number of areas but none more so than it’s Club Partners. As such, Derby County Ladies are delighted to have secured a sixth consecutive season partnership with the Merlin Hungry Horse on Pride Park.

The thriving pub restaurant, which has become arguably the main DCFC venue on home match days, away from the stadium itself, continues to actively profile the female arm of the club at every opportunity. On match days the entire front of house staff team wear Derby County Ladies shirts from the moment they open to the moment they close, whilst members of the club can earn discounts on food offers at the restaurant.

In addition to that the walls of the popular venue are adorned with DCLFC framed memorabilia, whilst replica DCLFC shirts have been sold from the venue for each of the past three seasons. Praising their continued support, Ewe Rams CEO Duncan Gibb believes it’s vital that partners such as The Merlin continue to back the club

Gibb said “The Merlin have been on board with Derby County Ladies for six seasons now and they continue to help increase our profile. Having their staff team wear our club shirts on Derby County match days has provided crucial exposure to not only the club, but our main key partners as well.

“In return our commitment is to provide positive exposure to the venue, as well as helping to create increased footfall. As part of that every player, coach and staff team member of the club holds a discount card and we actively encourage our teams to see the Merlin as their chosen venue of choice.

Given the look and feel of the venue it feels almost like home to us, so usage levels remain high. On top of that fans of the main club see the ladies arm of the club as just that, so they love the fact that the entire front of house staff team are dressed in Derby County attire, thereby making for a real ‘home venue’ feel to the place.”

According to the Merlin’s General Manager, Joanne Trigwell the partnership has been a huge success. “We’ve enjoyed our ongoing alignment with Derby County Ladies, whether that be the presence of their staff, coaches and players in the restaurant or the fact that through this partnership we are able to present both the pub and staff team in a way that makes it the DCFC venue of choice on home match days for Rams supporters.

“Our staff love wearing the shirts on match days when then Men’s Team are playing and we receive lots of questions and genuine interest in the female arm of the club. We also sell the home, away and third shirts, with the pink ones proving to be a particularly big hit with female Rams supporter. It’s been great to see DCLFC shirts bought through us, being proudly worn to DCFC matches

“It’s our sixth season involved with the club and these are exciting times as the game grows. We have had people ask us to put the FIFA Women’s World Cup on our screens which is a vast change from previous tournaments and we love promoting the Derby County Ladies name at every opportunity. Hopefully the season ahead will see the club challenge for promotion to the National League.”
