Tinsley Makes Ewe Rams Return

Derby County Ladies have added former player Megan Tinsley to their squad, signing the former Ewe on a dual-contract with FA Women’s Championship side Sheffield United WFC.

A versatile player with a lethal left-foot, Tinsley rejoins after four seasons away having last played in the 2015/16 campaign for the Ewe Rams and last season came up against the club for Sheffield FC Ladies before a summer move to the Blades.

Speaking to DCLFC Media, Tinsley spoke of her delight at returning to the Ewes and said “I’m really delighted to be joining this great club yet again, I know they’ve been wanting me for a while and I thought now was the right time to join them.

“I’m really excited to join up with the girls who I already know some of, which has made it easier to fit in straight away, and also looking forward to working with the great coaching team that they have.

“I also looking forward to see the ambitions of the club because I know good things are coming which is a massive deal in terms of the women’s game! But it’s a great feeling to be back and can’t wait to get started on Sunday.”

The former England Youth International is a former team mate of Ewe Rams Boss Sam Griffiths and the gaffer was delighted to bring back the 21-year old to the club.

Griffiths said “I’m really pleased that Megan has joined us on a dual contract with Sheffield United, we tried to add her at the start of the season but an offer to play in the FA Women’s Championship was too good to turn down.

“I’ve played with her and also coached her at the Derby County RTC and have seen her progress to become an outstanding player and she will bring an added bit of quality to our side, where she can play across a number of positions.

“The Blades have been going really well in the FA Women’s Championship so to be able to add her to our squad and keep her developing with game time is a win-win situation for both parties.

“I can’t wait to see her back in a Derby kit and I know there will be a warm welcome back from the Ewe Rams faithful, she gave us problems at Sheffield last season and was their Player of the Season too, so we are looking forward to her helping us develop further and move up the table.”

Tinsley will go straight into the squad for Sunday’s FA National League Cup 1st Round clash with The New Saints LFC at Mickleover Sports FC in a 2pm kick-off. Entry is just £3 Adults and free for Under 18s.
