Under 13's White Socks Stave Off Comeback

DCLFC U13 vs Chellaston U13

Following a lengthy layoff the girls returned to action at Alvaston Park with a league cup group fixture this morning.

The game kicked off half an hour late in bright but cold conditions and Derbys lack of matches in the last 6 weeks showed in the opening exchanges with a few over hit Passes but they took the lead midway through the first half.  Chellaston looked very dangerous on the break with a very quick centre forward  although the keeper and defence did very well to hold the lead.  The game was evenly poised at 1:0 with some very good football played by both sides before Derby doubled their advantage shortly before half time.

Half Time 2 : 0

Derby had looked comfortable at 2 up but their lead was cut early in the the second half with the pace of the Chellaston forward causing the damage, almost immediately Derby regained their two goal cushion but minutes later the lead was cut back to a single goal, a frantic few minutes bringing the scores to 3:2. Derby kept on pushing but Chellaston were never out of it creating chances to equalise on the break however some neat football led to the two goal cushion being restored. The girls pressed to increase their advantage still further but with 10 minutes left Chellaston made it 4:3, a nervous last few minutes ensued but the score line remained the same.

Full Time 4:3

All in all a very entertaining game played by two very good sides, a credit to girls football well played all......give us a week for our finger nails to grow back though please.
