Derby County LFC U'16s 1-0 Sutton Coldfield Royals

Within the first 10 minutes of this encounter it was quite clear that Sutton came with a game plan which was to stop Derby playing football. To Suttons credit for large part of this fair but bruising encounter their game plan appeared to be working.

However, in a match that wasn’t for the purest what football was played came from Derby who in spite of the close attention they were getting from the Sutton players they did enjoy some good patterns of play.

Throughout the 80 minutes Sutton only managed 2 efforts on goal both in the first 40 mins and on both occasions Naeve in the Derby goal was more than a match.

Although Derby did struggle to play their passing game what they did demonstrate throughout this encounter was that they could match Sutton physically and throughout the 80 mins they still managed to carve out several good scoring opportunities including hitting the crossbar on two occasions.

As the game progressed you felt that it was going to take something special to break the deadlock and on 69 mins Eden delivered that special moment. She picked the ball up midway in the Sutton half and from 20 yards unleashed a thunderbolt of shot into the left hand corner of the Sutton net to make it 1-0 and game over.

This victory maintained the U16s excellent start to the season played 3 won 3.
