Derby last played Pride Park in December, coming a disappointing second place. Today Pride Park fielded 10 players, giving Derby an advantage from the start. The conditions were cold & wet, and heavy under foot, following last couple of days rain.

Derby Kicked off and were quick to dominate possession, and during the first ten minute passage of Play Purdy, Storrar, Freeman and Howe and Aftab were linking well creating shooting opportunities. Aftab shot wide, followed by a goal mouth scramble from one of Freeman’s corner deliveries. Storrar was unlucky with a powerful shot going wide of the corner post. This was followed by a Pride Park effort on goal, which was easily dealt with by Hill.

Pride Park did well to contain Derby who were pretty well camped in the Pride Park half for much of the first half.

On 34 Minutes – Aftab, Barker, Haslam & Shelton off, Fitch, Wigley, Gourlay, & Pickering on

Derby continued to press and Fitch had numerous shots on goal, played in by Howe & Gourlay.

The first half played out following a couple of Freeman efforts going wide, going in with out reward for their effort.

On Half time - Derby County 0, Pride Park 0

Following the re-start Derby were straight into the Pride Park box, from Freeman to Howe, Pickering, Wigley and Pickering.

On 46 Minutes – Pride Park were unlucky to concede a penalty (hand ball) – Up step Howe to calmly smack the ball in to the bottom left corner leaving the keeper no chance.

1 – 0 Derby

On 57 Minutes – Storrar off (injured), Shelton back on.

Derby were heaping on the pressure, Howe chipping through for Fitch but stopped by the defence. Following a Purdy corner Howe attempted a overhead kick but didn’t quite get enough power. Followed by another good effort a moment later chipping the keeper, but just went wide of the post.

On 70 Minutes – Howe, Farthing and Freeman off, Barker, Aftab and Haslam back on

Moments later Fitch made a good moving, turning her opposing player, but her shot was saved by the keeper. On 72 Minutes - Aftab cleared the ball up to Pickering on to Barker who shot in to the bottom corner.

2 – 0 Derby

This was followed by Pride Parks best opportunity shooting wide on the break.

On 80 Minutes – Purdy off, Storrar back on

The match played out with Derby attacking at every opportunity and a good move from, Haslam linking with Barker who shot wide.
